Conveyor not working? Trace the first blocked link

Check direction, machine ports and downstream space in a small reproducible route.

01 / FIELD NOTES

Inspect the route in order

A capsule can stop for several reasons; the checks below narrow down the location rather than claiming a universal fix.

  1. Check that the conveyor points away from the output and toward the intended input.
  2. Inspect the labels on the connected machine: the stone press has separate dust and sand input ports.
  3. Look for a stopped capsule or a full machine immediately downstream.
  4. Test the output of one machine without a long chain, then reconnect one segment at a time.
02 / FIELD NOTES

Splitters and mergers

The extracted splitter has one named input and two named outputs; the merger has two inputs and one output. Placement and flow still need in-game verification.

The developer says patch 1.0.4 changed mergers to alternate between inputs and let crew members place splitters and mergers on each other’s belts.

03 / FIELD NOTES

Packing error

If a machine displays a packing error despite material and power, check the game version. The 1.0.4 patch notes say a known packing stall was fixed; they do not establish that every future blockage has the same cause.

04 / FIELD NOTES

Identify the first stopped capsule

Follow the route in the direction the capsule should travel. If a capsule leaves its source but stops at one junction, start there. If no capsule leaves the source, inspect the source, its storage and its output first. This distinction avoids rebuilding a working section of belt.

For a stone press, the extracted build definition names IN_DUST, IN_SAND and OUT. A connection to the wrong input can look like a belt problem even though material is moving. Port labels are static data; check the actual placed orientation in your own game.

05 / FIELD NOTES

Separate blocked flow from insufficient input

A chamber with no incoming dust cannot produce sand. A stone press needs both dust and sand, and its output needs free space. If either input is missing, adding a downstream conveyor does not solve the input problem. If the output is full, increasing input supply will not clear the blockage.

For processing machines, also check the power connection. The factory calculator reports demand and a simple sunlight-based estimate; it does not simulate the slowdown when power is insufficient.

06 / FIELD NOTES

Interpreting a belt capacity calculation

The recovered movement and spacing constants support an ideal single-lane calculation of about 88 capsules/min. It assumes evenly spaced capsules, continuous movement and no blocked junctions or hand-offs. It is useful for comparison but does not establish the real stable rate of a specific layout.

The packager’s timer is a separate limit on attempts. A timer check does not guarantee that a capsule can be placed, move through each junction or be accepted at the destination.

Frequently asked questions

Why is my stone press not receiving material?

Check that dust and sand reach the two separately named inputs, then verify power and free output space. The current data does not prove a single cause for every stopped press.

Does the 171.4 figure mean the conveyor moves 171.4 kg/min?

No. It is the packager’s approximate timer-based attempt ceiling for 1 kg capsules, not a measured conveyor delivery rate.
